The Congress has ratified the bicameral conference committee report deferring the Sangguniang Kabataan elections scheduled in October this year to a later date to be determined by the Commission on Elections (Comelec). 

A lawmaker from the National Unity Party (NUP) has proposed a law establishing a National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) that will control, manage and operate all dams in the country to ensure that these structures remain safe and operate efficiently while preventing  destruction to lives and property. 

Led by Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr., the House of Representatives adopted last week a resolution providing financial aid to victims of the Zamboanga City crisis in the form of donations from members of the chamber of at least P10,000 each.

The committee on suffrage and electoral reforms of the House of Representatives has passed a bill seeking to postpone the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections originally set for next month to October 2016.
