Misamis Oriental Representative Juliette Uy has filed a bill seeking to declare her home province as a tourism zone,  given its various potentials to attract foreign and local visitors to its fine white sand beaches, nature parks and various cultural and historical sites. 

Lawmakers from the National Unity Party (NUP) have joined the call urging President Benigno Aquino III to put on the fast track the construction of a high-speed railway system that will connect Metro Manila to Clark  and pave the way for the airport’s  development  as the country’s new international gateway.

National Unity Party vice president Elpidio Barzaga Jr. has rejected calls to impeach  President Benigno Aquino III, saying there was no basis to initiate such proceedings against him in the Congress. 

The House of Representatives approved on second reading late Friday night (September 27, 2013)  the proposed P2.268-trillion national budget for 2014 minus the lump-sum appropriations of P25.24 billion for the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).
