The House super committee tasked to hold deliberations on the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) is set to hold public hearings on the measure from September 24 to December 17 in several Mindanao provinces. 

Members of the House of Representatives led by Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr., Deputy Speaker Roberto Puno and Majority Leader Neptali Gonzales II have formally acknowledged and honored the efforts of business leader  Manuel V. Pangilinan in placing  the Philippines back on the international basketball circuit following the country’s commendable performance at the FIBA World Cup. 

Representative Lorna Velasco has proposed a measure requiring telecommunications providers to pre-install a “kill-switch” application in mobile phones as a means to protect the privacy and security of their subscribers. 

The House of Representatives has approved the creation of a “super committee” that  would handle the expected exhaustive debates on the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law submitted by Malacanang to Congress last week. 

Even the man who will benefit the most from the move opposes it, said National Unity Party (NUP) lawmaker Elpidio Barzaga Jr. as the justice committee of the House of Representatives voted last week to throw out the three separate impeachment complaints filed against President Benigno Aquino III.
