Among the awardees of the Ulirang Ama Award for government service include Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, Nueva Ecija 4th District Representative Rodolfo W. Antonino, Butil Party-list Representative Agapito H. Guanlao, Albay 3rd District Representative Reno G. Lim, Cainta (Rizal) Mayor Ramon A. Ilagan, and Puerto Princesa City Mayor Edward S. Hagedorn.

SPEAKER Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte Jr. yesterday urged President Benigno Aquino to include the National Unity Party (NUP) in the coalition of prominent political parties being formed under the ruling Liberal Party for the May 2013 senatorial elections.
Belmonte, vice chairman of LP, said the NUP with 34 lawmaker- members in the House of Representatives is capable of generating huge votes to ensure the victory of senatorial candidates of the ruling party.
“I am calling for the inclusion of NUP headed by Congressmen Rodolfo Antonino (of Nueva Ecija) and Congressman Elpidio Barzaga (of Dasmariñas City) in the coalition of the ruling Liberal Party with other prominent political parties,” Belmonte said in an interview.
Speaker Feliciano Belmonte scoffed at the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) for styling itself as the team to beat in the 2013 elections despite being numerically inferior in Congress and in local government units compared with the Liberal Party (LP) and its coalition partners.
Belmonte pointed out that size was a factor in getting coalition partners.

The University of Southeastern Philippines, the first state university in the Region, commemorated its 33 years of delivering quality education to its students. On December 15, 1978, Batas Pambansa Bilang 12 was passed, thereby, creating the University of Southeastern Philippines. In celebration of USeP’s 33rd founding anniversary, the University set a six-day activity-based program that started on December 12.
The House of Representatives has approved on third and final reading a bill providing just and proficient parameters in the treatment of children in conflict with the law, especially youth offenders who acted with discernment.
House Bill 6052, which seeks to strengthen the Juvenile Justice System in the country, amends Republic Act 9344 or the "Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006."
