MANILA, Philippines - Two days into the resumption of sessions and the House of Representatives still has not provided any clear indication on when the Reproductive Health Bill (RH) will be discussed on the floor and put to a vote.
ANGELES CITY, Philippines – Amid the increasing commercialization of the Internet, especially via social networks, House Trade and Industry Committee chair and Bataan Rep. Albert Garcia wants amendments to the 20-year-old Consumer Act of the Philippines (CAP).
“We have clear issues regarding Internet sales promotion especially on social networking site Facebook,” he said.
Garcia said in an interview that Republic Act No. 7394 or the CAP and the Price Act are undergoing scrutiny to “attune them with the current Philippine landscape entwined with Internet use.”

The House of Representatives has approved on second reading a bill providing protection to children against potential hazards to their health and safety by setting standardized labeling requirements for certain kids' toys and games.
MANILA, Philippines - Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Jay Velasco is seeking ample protection for millions of mobile phone subscribers.
In Bill 6334 or the proposed Mobile Phone Consumer Empowerment Act, Velasco said cellular phone service providers “do not clearly and uniformly disclose to the customer the relevant terms and conditions, including charges, minutes, service plans, taxes and surcharges.”
We made the bill palatable to the critics and I hope they would stop delaying the proceedings because this is a very important piece of legislation,” Belmonte said unmindful of the political “repercussions” of supporting the bill that has bothered most of the lawmakers who said they are not going to win in the next elections if they support the bill.
