Among the awardees of the Ulirang Ama Award for government service include Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, Nueva Ecija 4th District Representative Rodolfo W. Antonino, Butil Party-list Representative Agapito H. Guanlao, Albay 3rd District Representative Reno G. Lim, Cainta (Rizal) Mayor Ramon A. Ilagan, and Puerto Princesa City Mayor Edward S. Hagedorn.
“Every single Filipino family must be a role model to raise a descent and good family life. We will see to it that no one will be neglected of benefits and concern from the government.”
This was the message of President Benigno S. Aquino III that was delivered by Customs Commissioner Rozzano Rufino “Ruffy” Biazon during the awarding ceremony of the Ulirang Ama 2012, which was held at the Centennial Hall of the historic landmark Manila Hotel yesterday morning. He also said that the men who brought the values of fatherhood did not only build a house but constructed a real home, and the awardees deserve to be given the honor.
The Ulirang Ama awards for Socio Civic/Religious went to Jose Pepito DG. Manio, a man who raised a descent family despite of being disabled and handicapped due to an accident he sustained during his childhood, together with Sotero Romualdo Esguerra, and Bernardo Canlas Pamintuan.
Awarded as Ulirang Ama ng Tahanan is Leopoldo Lagadia Jaramiel, a government office driver.
On the other hand, the Ulirang Ama ng Angkan was awarded to Floro R. Yabyabin, and Angelo David Hizon Jr.
While Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief Police Director Samuel Pagdilao Jr. shined in the law enforcement category.
The awardees for Law and Judiciary category include Justice Isaias P. Dicdican, together with Prosecutor General Claro A. Arellano, and Judge Florencio S. Arellano.
For Medicine and Allied Sciences, Dr. Nestor F. Venida got the award, while Ramon A. Diaz was awarded under Arts and Culture.
And for the Media and Journalism category, Alan Lagos Allanigue and former Congressman Adolfo ‘Gerry’ R. Geronimo were awarded.
For the Business and Industry category, awards were given to Victor Bunuan Valdepeñas, Rodolfo Toledo Yaya, Cornelio P. Mapa, and Roberto Reyes Laurel.
Meanwhile, the National Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Foundation, Incorporated vowed to recognize other best Filipino fathers and mothers as they commit to support the administration of President Aquino.
For her part, former Supreme Court Justice Angelina Sandoval-Gutierrez said that the family is the basic unit of society.
She also said that if all families are healthy and strong, and with deep and sincere association, definitely a good government is assured.
The foundation acknowledge the overwhelming support of Coast Guard Commandant Rear Admiral Edmund C. Tan, His Eminence Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio de Tagle, ABS Party-list Representative Baby Leonen Pizzaro, Governor Enrique “Tet” Garcia Jr., Manila Hotel President Joey Lina, and Manila Bulleting Editor-In-Chief Crispulo J. Icban Jr., who became instrumental to make the event successful.
