The Orchard Golf & Country Club - The Orchard has been designated as a bird and wildlife sanctuary with its teeming foliage and various species of birds. And yet this scenic and serene enclave is a mere 45 minutes from the bustling city of Makati and 15 minutes away from the Alabang Town Center. Nestled in what used to be a mango orchard in historic Cavite, 27 kilometers Southwest of Manila, are two world-class,18-hole championship courses designed by two golf legends: Arnold Palmer and Gary Player.
The Palmer Course was the venue for the 1995 Johnnie Walker Classic and the 1996 Johnnie Walker Super Tour, participated in by the likes of Ernie Els, Vijay Singh, Freddie Couples, Greg Norman, Nick Faldo, and many others from the PGA. The Palmer Course is a traditional parkland layout, measuring over 7,000 yards with fairways winding through the mango groves and punctuated by lakes and large bunkers. The Palmer course will test the player’s shot-making skills to the limit.
Carved out of what used to be a sugarcane plantation, the Player Course was designed as a heathland course, reminiscent of where golf first started. It was designed with wide and rolling fairways and deep bunkers. With not too many trees, the wind always comes into play so that the OB fences and water hazards seem to attract errant shots like magnet.
The Player Course was the venue of the 1997 Tour Qualifying School of the Asian PGA.
The Orchard has such amenities as: a half-sized Olympic pool, 12-lane bowling alley, 150-seater cinema, fitness and aerobics center, indoor tennis courts, badminton courts, a basketball court, 5 theme restaurants, corporate function rooms and a 500-seater Grand Ballroom.
