The morning was well on its way and the whole place resounded with the squawks and screeches of a thousand birds. At first the place looked like an ordinary farm with unkept kakawate trees, until you take a closer look and see branches laden with nests and birds. Deep in the middle of African oil palm tree plantation in Brgy Baras in Tacurong is an amazing nesting and breeding area of various species of herons and egrets, and we came right smack in the middle of the nesting season.

ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat (November 13, 2008)-Cavers marvel at the different rare formations inside Lagbasan Cave in Brgy. Kuden, Sen. Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat. The cave, which was called world-class by cave specialist Glen Malliet of the United States Speleological Society, is one of the major tourist attractions of the province. It has become popular among local caving enthusiasts due to the presence of unspoiled stalactites, stalagmites, minerals and other unnamed natural cave formations.

Coron Island comprises two barangays, Banuang Daan and Cabugao, all of them belong to the Indigenous Cultural Communities. There are 373 households with a population of 2,028 individuals of Tagbanua in the Island. The primary users of the resources of the island are the residents of these two settlements.

The Mt. Apo Natural Park and the Mt. Hamiguitan Wildlife Sanctuary in Davao Oriental, which have unique and endangered biodiversity, are now considered for serial nomination as sanctuaries of endemism.
